I was reading a book recently called 'Thriving on Chaos' by Tom Peters.
In it he says change is a prerequisite if we want to remain at the forefront in business today.
It got me thinking about change.
To get you thinking about it here are a couple of questions.
How long has it been since you went to your bank to withdraw money from a person inside the bank (teller), not an ATM?
Have you been to the same movie theatre that you used to go to as a child recently? More than likely no. Most of the old movie theatres are gone. Nowday’s they’re attached to shopping centres because this is where the people are today.
All but gone are the little corner grocery stores that used to be on every corner.
What are we learning? Times certainly have changed.
Unfortunately, along with rapid change in society, we’re now hearing phrases like quick fixes and free lunches. Get rich quick schemes, power strategies and marketers promising wealth without work.
Regardless of change, to achieve lasting success there will always be a need to build our lives on good old-fashioned values.
The foundation stones of character, integrity, honesty, loyalty and commitment and being trust worthy are qualities that will always be required for lasting success.
As you and I are unable to predict all of the changes that are going to occur over the next 25 years, doesn't it make sense that we should build our lives and our businesses on a sure foundation so that regardless of what may come, we will always have that solid foundation upon which to stand and to build up from?
In these times of rapid change the need to build our lives on character is just as important as it's ever been.
