The concept of running a sub four minute mile was considered a pipe dream.

Pre 1954 popular sports magazines provided proof – “The human heart cannot sustain a person running at such a blistering pace.

Roger Bannister literally saw himself in his mind’s eye in advance cutting the tape in a sub four-minute time.

When he did break the four-minute mile barrier he proved to the entire world that the barrier never was physical, it was psychological.

Interestingly enough, 30 other runners broke the barrier the same year! “If he can do it, I can do it.”

Michael Jordan sees the three pointer before he turns it loose and you hear swish.

Tiger sees the ball drop into the cup before he takes the putt.

Before the champion pole vaulter runs down the runway he sees himself clearing the crossbar first.

It’s important that you see yourself successfully achieving your goals first. Throw your imagination over the cross bar first and the rest will follow.

Here’s how.

Create a goal board. A large poster, fridge montage or computer desktop created with pictures that portray the successful achievement of your goals in advance.

Examples:

  • Get someone to take a photo of you sitting in your new car.
  • Go to the travel agent and grab a few brochures. Add photos of you amongst (as if you’re there) those picture perfect locations.
  • Place yourself amongst a group of children in Africa.

Now let's take a look at what we may call our mid brain emotions.
