Deep down we all know that we need to take action to achieve our goals.
So why don’t more of us take the very actions that could change our lives?
Here are three probabilities.
If you fear jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane with or without a parachute it’s probably warranted but the vast majority of our fears are simply wasted human resource.
Three fears to slay:
Are you waiting for conditions to improve before you take action?
If you want to drive from Melbourne to Sydney but also want to eliminate all risks associated with driving first (i.e. other cars on the road, drunk drivers, trucks) you’d never get started.
Likewise, don’t wait for the perfect plan, the perfect business opportunity or the perfect investment.
The non-perfect plan acted upon is infinitely more valuable than the perfect plan not acted upon.
When the fear of failure grips a human being it ties them in knots and cuts their efficiency to zero.
It’s debilitating. It’s paralysing... It’s disintegrating.
If you’re afraid of failure you’ll be beaten before you start... If you start at all!
Failure is not a sin... But not to try is!
Some people never make mistakes but they don’t make anything else either, so don’t allow the fear of failure to stop you from trying.
Failure can be a stumbling block or a stepping stone to success - It all depends on how we interpret it.
At a football match recently a player put up the bomb.
The armchair general sitting next to me yelled out, “You should have run it!”
Next play the guy ran it.
The guy sitting next to me screamed, “You should have put up the bomb you stupid so and so!”
It never ceases to amaze me.
Those in the crowd seem to know so much more about how to play the game than the players on the field!
When they hand out the ‘man of the match award’ though it always goes to a player on the field.
Don’t be too concerned about the critics - You’ll never see a monument erected to one.
Another enemy of action is doubt.
Worry is like a rocking chair - It keeps you moving but gets you nowhere!
If you doubt your ability, your dreams or your potential, it’s unlikely that you’ll take action.
If you want to know how serious this one is take a look at what happened to the Children of Israel of Old Testament fame.
God Himself eventually said, “I’ve had it, trip cancelled!”
Their doubt or ‘unbelief’ as the Bible calls it was simply too much for even Him to bear.
Don’t doubt your dreams. Don’t doubt your ability. Don’t doubt your potential. Doubt your doubts.
Here's how to erase doubts by building belief.
Another hindrance that can abort action is worry.
Worry is the darkroom in which negatives are developed.
Those worrying about the future bring that worry into their moment and into their reality.
People worried about their past drag up those worries and bring them into their present where they get to experience them all again.
As attack is often the best form of defence, turn your worry about money problems into planned wealth creation activities.
If you’re worried about your weight problem take massive action based on your weight loss plan.
If you’re worried about growing old start living now by doing the things that matter most.
As the heavy chains of worry are forged in idle hours get busy backing your plans with massive action.
In the final analysis fear, doubt and worry have no real substance.
They’re merely thought processes or mental attitudes and any mental attitude can be changed.
Speak to them and tell them to be still (this is taking action).
If you can’t seem to get on top of them ask for Gods help.
We could all use Gods help.
